What Smootables is
Smootables is a school-year planning and timetabling service. Schools use it to plan years, place people and rooms, generate timetables, and edit the result. We provide the software. The school decides how to use it.
What it is not
Smootables is not a student information system, a gradebook, or legal advice. A generated timetable is a draft the school reviews. The school is responsible for the timetable it publishes.
Who can use it
A school administrator can create an account and a school workspace. People the school invites can join with the role the school gives them. You must be allowed to act for that school when you create or manage a workspace.
Accounts
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account. Write to juho@smootables.com if you think someone else is using it.
Acceptable use
Use Smootables only for legitimate school planning. Do not try to access another school's data, overload the service, or upload content you do not have the right to use. We may suspend an account that breaks this.
The school's data
The school is responsible for the names and other information it enters. Enter only data the school is allowed to process. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle that data.
AI features
AI planning assistance is optional. It runs on Azure OpenAI EU. A school can opt out and still use the rest of the product. Do not treat AI suggestions as a finished timetable.
Availability
We aim to keep Smootables available. We do not promise uninterrupted access. Planned maintenance or faults can take the service down. We restore access as soon as we reasonably can.
Paying for a license
Published prices are on the pricing page, excluding value-added tax (VAT). A 30-day trial covers up to 10 teachers. When the trial ends, the workspace locks unless the school has a paid license. Paid licenses are yearly and metered by teacher count. Card payments go through Stripe, a payment service provider. That covers only the payer and the card payment. It does not apply to schools that pay by invoice, and it does not include teacher or student names from plans and timetables.
Ending the agreement
A school can stop using Smootables at any time and ask us to delete its workspace by writing to juho@smootables.com. We can end access if these terms are broken, if the trial or license ends, or if we have to take the service down. If we stop offering Smootables, we give schools a chance to export or request deletion of their data.
Our responsibility
We provide Smootables with reasonable care. We do not accept responsibility for school decisions based on a generated timetable, or for loss of data the school can restore from its own records, beyond what the law requires. If the law lets us limit what we owe, it is limited to the fees the school paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version applies from the date at the top of this page. For a change that affects a paying school, we email the school's admin contacts.
