What we are building
Smootables is built to combine school yearly planning, resource assignment, solver-based timetable generation, planner and teacher collaboration, publishing, and timetable editing in one workspace. The core of that is shipped today: you plan the year, the solver generates a feasible timetable from your plan, and you edit, recover, and share the result. Planners can also make large plan and timetable changes in natural language; the AI assistant explains tradeoffs and respects hard constraints without bypassing the solver. How Smootables works walks through the shipped product step by step and states plainly which capabilities are still part of the vision.
Who builds it
Smootables is built in Finland by educational technology professionals and was founded by Juho Isola. The author byline on the articles and guides across this site is his. Where your data lives
Smootables is designed as a cloud SaaS product with school-scoped data isolation, so each school's data stays separate. It is GDPR-compliant, data is hosted on secure Microsoft Azure servers, and the app runs in the browser with nothing to install.
